Digital platforms, materiality of media artifacts and music scenes.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the circulation of Brazilian “popular and peripheral” genres – such as funk carioca and sertanejo - across the landscape of musical platforms and online social networks emphasizing the central role ofYoutube and music videos for raising visibility and reshaping these genres that until then circulated through more restricted or local circuits and quite distinct audiences.
